Who We Are

The Teaching Assistant Union proudly represents and advocates for the teaching assistants & Teacher Aides of Deer Park Union Free School District. Our members play an essential role in supporting students, teachers, and the educational community every day.

As a union, we work to ensure that teaching assistants are treated fairly, compensated appropriately, and provided with the resources and support needed to succeed in their roles. We are committed to protecting member rights, fostering professional respect, and maintaining a strong voice in matters that affect our workplace.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advocate for and support Teaching Assistants & Teacher Aides by promoting fair working conditions, protecting contractual rights, and strengthening our profession through unity, communication, and collaboration.

Who We Represent

The Teaching Assistant & Teacher Aides Union represents all Teaching Assistants & Teacher Aides employed by Deer Park Union Free School District who are covered under our collective bargaining agreement.

We work on behalf of our members regarding:

Our Affiliation

The Teaching Assistant Union is affiliated with the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), a statewide union representing more than 700,000 education professionals, healthcare professionals, and public employees throughout New York State.

Through our affiliation with NYSUT, our members have access to valuable resources, professional support, training opportunities, legal assistance, and advocacy at the local, state, and national levels. NYSUT works to advance public education, protect workers' rights, and promote policies that benefit students, educators, and school communities.

Our affiliation strengthens our ability to advocate effectively for our members and ensures that our voices are represented beyond our local district.
